I dont work in one but I think there is a huge variance.....five miles down the road from me they have the full on centres wrap around care on school sites, health visitors soc workers, speech therapist ect all to hand...where I am because we are an "affluent" area we get one that moves around from pillar to post (for example at the moment the breast feeding advisor operates one morning a week in the Library!!!!) and relies on volunteers held together by a few professionals because they wont fund us as fully......so I think how they work, what they deliver etc is down to political motives as well as social ones. ;)
